Comment on Dark Skies and Overlanding: Protecting the Night and Preserving Adventure by Anish Saran https://www.overlandbound.com/dark-skies-and-overlanding/#comment-13225 Thu, 15 May 2025 13:39:24 +0000 https://www.overlandbound.com/?p=40141#comment-13225 Loved your article. Designated dark skies are amazing. I want to add that the more I do dark sky adventures while overlanding, the more I love it. Also, I have discovered so many places that are dark by looking up the light pollution map. For e.g., North Kaibab National Forest is exceptionally dark, but not a designated dark sky.

Comment on The Hunter RMV Globe Ranger 4×4: An Overland Rig Built for the Long Haul by Daisy L. https://www.overlandbound.com/the-hunter-rmv-globe-ranger-4x4/#comment-11002 Fri, 28 Mar 2025 05:33:42 +0000 https://www.overlandbound.com/?p=40208#comment-11002 OverlandBound’s coverage of the $250K+ Globe Ranger 4×4 showcases engineering marvels like its portal axles and 400L water system, but raises valid questions about accessibility in the overlanding community. While the rig’s capabilities are undeniable, its price point feels disconnected from the DIY spirit that built this culture. The aluminum camper system’s brilliance is overshadowed by a concerning trend: are we valuing gear over experiences?

This conversation reminds me of the philosophy behind Holoholo’s adventure-ready water bottles (https://holohololife.com/) – proving that thoughtful, functional design doesn’t require breaking the bank. Perhaps the future of overlanding lies in balancing innovation with inclusivity, where a
40waterbottleanda250K rig can share the same trail with equal respect for the journey.

The aluminum camper system is engineering brilliance, but one wonders if such extravagance aligns with the spirit of adventure—or inadvertently fuels “Instagram overlanding” culture.

For those seeking a more balanced approach to vehicle-based exploration, communities like Holoholo Life (https://holohololife.com/) offer refreshing perspectives on accessible adventures, proving epic journeys don’t require six-figure rigs. Perhaps the real innovation lies in democratizing exploration, not just pushing technological limits.

Its modular aluminum camper system sets a new standard, though the $250K+ price tag questions accessibility. For serious adventurers, this might be the ultimate “buy once, cry once” solution.

Comment on Overland Bound Trail Ratings by Richard Lashbrook https://www.overlandbound.com/overland-bound-trail-ratings/#comment-9765 Thu, 30 Jan 2025 15:51:46 +0000 https://www.overlandbound.com/?p=32440#comment-9765 This is an awesome trail ride that can be a solo ride providing your equipment is in top condition.

This trail ride was an Easy 1. However, there are several large lava rock passages. Crossing these areas required no speed at all, just ease it up and slow over the down side. Also, there are quite a few dust miles for this ride. If in a group 1/4 mile spacing is suggested for driver and passenger vision.
